Union Hall, Dividing Creek Historical Society

Come out and help us support this little gem of a concert space. This is where we recorded our 3rd CD with the clever title The Snake Brothers at Union Hall. The Historical Society still needs a little more money to put a new coat of paint on the building. Main Street is Cumberland County Route 553. The hall is near the intersection of Routes 553 & 555. From the North is Silk City. Hear Barry Mitterhoff’s stellar mandolin stylings, Danny Weiss’ heartfelt guitar and vocals, and Larry Cohen’s propulsive bass. A breathtaking variety of styles including hard-driving bluegrass, original songs and instrumentals and audience favorites like the "Wizard of Oz Medley”. Barry is currently an active member of Hot Tuna with guitarist Jorma Kaukonen. Representing South Jersey is crowd favorite The Snake Brothers, a swingin’, do-woppin’, folkin’, cowboyin’ acoustic group who can be heard on Down Jersey Radio WVLT 92.1. Hosting the program is Jim Albertson.

Wheaton Arts

This concert is in conjunction with the Museum exhibit New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music which runs from Nov 7 to Dec 31. This exhibition presented in partnership with the New Jersey Council for the Humanities “tells the story of a nation through the music of its people. Bringing together photographs, recordings, instruments, lyrics, and artist profiles, this Smithsonian Institution touring exhibition explores the distinct cultural identities of gospel, country, blues and other forms of roots music as they record the history of the American people and set the foundation for many musical genres appreciated world wide today.” As a host of the New Harmonies Exhibition, we at WheatonArts will also a wide spectrum of public programs including two concerts and a series of workshops exploring the instrument making process.

 In addition to the Snakes, the concert features bluesman Steve Byrne, bluegrass from the Belaire Boys and 9 year old award-winning Celtic fiddler Haley Richardson and her brothers Dylan & Newt, the Towheads.

Tickets: $10 Adults, $9 Members, 12 & under are free (but, must have an advance ticket)  Concert Day: $15 at the door for everyone

New Jersey Motorsports Park

This event supports LiveStrong and the South Jersey Healthcare Foundation. You can register at the Barbara Cook Canncer Foundation website. They do have a "Clean option", BBQ and walk only, no mud for $35, or you can get the full mud experience for $65. Here's the schedule:

Judging for the Costume Contest begins at 3pm

Opening Ceremonies begin at 4pm, Costume Contest and Announcement of Costume and Fundraising Awards.

Kids Mud Run (for kids 12 and under) starts at 4:45pm.  Parents may run with the kids at no additional charge.  Parents who then wish to do the regular mud run may join one of the later waves.

Adult Races will start at 5pm, waves will be assigned and waves will go out every 15 minutes (no more than 4 waves).  Pit Pass Wave will go out after last Mud Run Wave.

BBQ starts at 6pm and features live entertainment (that's us!)

Candlelight Walk in Honor/Memory of Cancer Survivors will start after dark and after conclusion of the mud runs.

Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts

We hope you are able to join us for our spring fundraiser, A Decade of Art, taking place Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 7-11pm at the RRCA. This year's celebration has many exciting twists as we will enjoy delicious food from Luke Kornbluh, formerly of The Looking Glass Café, as well as awesome music from members of the Snake Brothers. The event will take place both inside the center as well as under a lighted tent on the plaza. Those attending will enjoy a live and silent auction, as well as a complimentary wine and beer bar, dessert station and coffee bar provided by Starbucks. Tickets are $75 a person and include an original origami ornament commemorating the occasion. All of the proceeds from the event directly benefit the Art Creates Excellence program at the RRCA which offers fine art instruction to students seven through seniors year round. Jim Albertson and the Snake Brothers will be reaching into their Celtic heritage for songs and stories from Ireland, Scotland and beyond. Joining them will be: Jean Farnworth, a champion Celtic Harpist and singer, Bob Michel and Mike Plunkett of the traditional Irish band, Murphy's Greyhound, and back by popular demand are The Towheads, Haley, Dylan and Newt Richardson. 8-year-old Haley, the East Coast Jr. Irish Fiddle Champion is joined by her brothers, 12-year-old Dylan on guitar and 14-year-old Newt on Irish drum. Jim Albertson and the Snake Brothers showcase their own songwriting skills. Joining them will be: Craig Sonnenfeld, Valerie Vaughn and Dan Godbey. Craig's song “Anne Frank’s Eyes” has received worldwide airplay. Valerie specializes in songs and stories of the Pine Barrens. Dan's songs are a combination of country and folk seasoned with personal stories. Tickets: $10 all ages.

The show features Lew London, the Snake Brothers, Vintage Spruce and Down Jersey host Jim Albertson. Multi-instrumentalist Lew London, the “Eastern King of Western Swing”, was nominated for a 2010 Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album, Singing Through The Hard Times: A Tribute To Utah Phillips, where he produced, engineered and played mandolin on the selection Starlight on the Rails. He has toured extensively with Steve Goodman and Jimmy Buffett. Vintage Spruce is a guitar swing duo that specializes in the swing band era songs of the 30s 40s and 50s. The legendary South Jersey band the Snake Brothers will back host Jim Albertson, as well as performing a set of their own material. Special songs and stories will be included to celebrate Halloween.
